i’m cortney, hi !

i’m a international board certified lactation consultant (ibclc) in Norfolk, NE.

i believe in care centered + traditional lactation support; emphasizing education on the fouth trimester. i provide families with the tools they need to meet their lactation goals and leave feeling empowered.

but lactation care is just my part-time job. my full-time job is within my home, mothering our two daughters. it always blows me away to think that my body has been nourishing my babies for four whole years, now. i am passionate about my work, here, because i’m fully living in it along side you. that is why this space is so much more than just breastfeeding education, but also, wholly advocating for our womanly bodies + babes. my lactation practice is based off of holistic + traditional medicine. i take things back to the stone ages —no gadgets, fads, props. just your baby, boobs and hands— our God given tools. your lactation success cannot be bought off of a baby registry; it relies on your instincts, health, and support system (me!). every mother deserves access to lactation education. i deeply believe in the power of postpartum support. that is exactly what i strive to do here.

education

for the past eight years, i have been working as a cardio-vascular sonographer. i graduated with a bachelors in health science and minor in healthcare management from bryanlgh. working in hospital medicine for almost a decade provided growth that i could have never imagined. patience, humility, acceptance, kindness, respect, resilience, and so many friendships.

but, boy do things change.

after having our second daughter, i felt it deep into my soul that it was time to focus my energy on our children. i knew i didn’t want to give up work completely, i love working with people. my current stage of life was filled with passion for the womanly body + it’s functionality. breastfeeding did not come naturally in my first year of motherhood; i quickly realized that there was much more to be learned than i had thought. loads of research, loads of coffee, and 14 successful months later, our lactation journey came to an end. i reflected on the amount of resources that aided in our success. i felt a calling to now, use my knowledge to be the resource for our rural area. so i jumped backed into the school game. i witnessed hundreds of latches (1,000+ hours of lactation mentoring) along side some amazing IBCLC’s whom i owe my knowledge to. late nights, deep in literature, with a newborn on my boob. to later sit for the international board of lactation consultants. then, He provided.

in march, 2021 i slowly started my private practice by hosting a breastfeeding/mother’s support group + in-home visits. it truly gives me goosebumps seeing how this motherly community has grown. what a blessing it’s been to practice in this role; i’m beyond fulfilled by this calling—to serve your family + area.
